Kalle Mathiesen of Kalles World Tour

Kalle Mathiesen of Kalles World Tour : Modern DrummerMy name is Kalle Mathiesen, and I’m a Danish drummer. I have a one-man-show called Kalles World Tour. DPRP magazine wrote about my CD/DVD, ”Kalles World Tour comes across as a modern European version of Buddy Rich and Frank Zappa,” so I thought that my music could be of interest to my fellow drummers from around the world.

I have always listened a lot to Vinnie Colaiuta, and on the record you can hear a hymn to Vinnie in a cover version of the Police’s “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic.” There is also a German version of Frank Zappa’s “The Black Page,” plus a weird remake of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.”

I have toured all over the world with this show, and from July 27 through August 8 I will be playing a tour in China.

I started playing at the age of eight, and I wanted to be the new drummer of Iron Maiden but got introduced to Chick Corea by my brother and started listening to jazz. When I was twenty-one I got accepted to go to the Danish music conservatorium in Copenhagen. Five years later I got my diploma and have since been touring and recording with bands like Who Made Who, Burnin Red Ivanhoe, the Dynamite Vikings, and my one-man band, Kalles World Tour.
