Route 36 Launches Global Drum Network Podcast
Route 36, a Salisbury, UK–based music production and tuition studio, has launched a new podcast, Global Drum Network. This monthly podcast is designed to bring together the worldwide community of drummers and percussionists.
Global Drum Network aims to inspire listeners by bringing them news, interviews, advice, and product reviews/demonstrations. The podcasts are recorded in the Route 36 studios.
Additionally, Global Drum Network will be encouraging two-way communication with listeners and enabling worldwide networking as it brings musicians together to collaborate in discussions, live events, and other projects.
Producer and presenter Bob Spry explains, “We’re extremely excited at the potential of the Global Drum Network, and welcome your input and participation as you join us on our journey. Whoever you are, wherever you are, come and help us beat out the rhythm of life!” Advertisement
Episode one features interviews with Steve White (Paul Weller, Style Council, Oasis), Pete Cater (Pete Cater Big Band) and Geoff Dugmore (session master), and includes a look at the ethereal, haunting instrument known as the hang drum (played by Cloudsong) and a tribute to the late, great Cozy Powell.
Already recorded for future editions are interviews with Bob Henrit (Argent, the Kinks, and inventor of the Arbiter “Flats” drumkit) and Cherisse Osei (Paloma Faith and Bryan Ferry), and a demonstration of the Dube percussion instrument by Dion Dublin.
The free podcast is available at globaldrumnetwork.buzzsprout.com or on iTunes.
