Super Vibes Jam Descends on Asbury Park
Many of the world’s greatest jazz vibraphonists will perform a free vibes jam at the Dauphin Grille on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in conjunction with the second World Vibes Congress. Featured artists include Gary Burton, Stefon Harris, Joe Locke, Tony Miceli, Dave Samuels, and Warren Wolf, among others. The event, which runs from 7-11 pm, is free and open to the public. Come for dinner inside the historic Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel (1401 Ocean Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ), or simply sit back and enjoy listening to these jazz stars.
The World Vibes Congress is an gathering of professional players, college percussion teachers, and students whose mission is to promote the vibraphone and improvisation on all keyboard percussion instruments, including writing more music, getting more students to play, and working with teachers to develop the best methods for instruction.
Prior to the Super Vibes Jam Session at the Berkeley on Saturday evening, educational meetings are being held at the Malletech factory in Neptune. Malletech is a world-renowned manufacturer of high-end keyboard percussion instruments and accessories such as vibraphones, marimbas, and xylophones supplying soloists, symphony orchestras, and college music departments throughout the world.
