Twist and Shout: Soul Legends Celebrate the Beatles

Twist and Shout: Soul Legends Celebrate the Beatles, at the legendary Apollo Theater on 253 West 125th Street, is one of the star-studded charity concerts being held as part of NYC Fab 50: Celebrating the Music of the Beatles 50th Anniversary Celebration.

The event will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2014. Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster on January 7, 2014. All of the net proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Food Bank for New York City.

The concert will feature veteran music legends, including one person who toured with the Beatles and another whose father toured with the Beatles. Kitoto Von Hebb, the daughter of two musical parents, one being “Sunny” author/singer Bobby Hebb, who toured with the Beatles in 1966. Kitoto has recorded with producer Joe Viglione (producer of the “Sunny” boxed set) and her recordings of Bobby Hebb’s “Proud Soul Heritage” and “Love You” feature Grammy-winning drummer Steve Holley (Paul McCartney’s Wings, Joe Cocker, Elton John). Also confirmed for the evening are such artists as rock’n’ roll pioneer Lloyd Price, Grammy and Tony award-winning singer/songwriter Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gary U.S. Bonds, Bettye LaVette, and Melvin Van Peebles. Drummer Rich Pagano of the Fab Faux is the musical director for the concert, and more performers are being added to the bill. This production is not affiliated with Apple Corp Ltd or the Beatles.
