The Ox and the Loon <br>Special Event Honoring the Who’s John Entwistle and Keith Moon This April 24
Tichy/Sutton Productions will present “The Ox and the Loon: A Night of Rhythmic Lunacy” in honor of John Entwistle and Keith Moon of the Who on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, California.
After coming off of three days of very successful shows during NAMM Show weekend this past January, which included the 9th Bonzo Bash and the very first Randy Rhoads Remembered celebration, producer Joe Sutton was approached to take over a night in April at the House of Blues in West Hollywood. Sutton and his partner, drummer Brian Tichy, got together and reviewed some ideas. They decided that rather than do another Bonzo Bash or RRR Celebration so soon, they chose to celebrate two rock icons at the same time, bassist John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon of the Who.
Tichy says, “This idea of celebrating the rhythm section in all its glory is pretty exciting to me. We are giving full focus to what many may agree is the other side of the band. John ‘the Ox’ Entwistle brought his huge aggressive tone, nimble fingered technique, and melodically busy lines to every Who song. Keith ‘the Loon’ Moon laid the groundwork of a style of drumming that has not been touched since. His drumming is legendary as is his stage presence. His offstage antics, sense of humor, and recklessness almost claim more fame than that of his drumming, but it is a combination of all of the above that has secured him as one of the greatest drummers of all time.” Advertisement
The Ox And the Loon celebration will showcase each classic Who song played by a unique rhythm section featuring some of the best bassists and drummers around accompanied by the house band dubbed the Wizards. Bass lords and drum emperors to be announced soon.
