Doobie Brothers’ Michael Hossack Passes Away

Doobie Brothers’ Michael Hossack Passes AwayOn Monday, March 12, Doobie Brothers drummer Michael Hossack died at age sixty-five, after a struggle with cancer. Hossack had two stints with the Doobies: In the early ’70s he played on some of the group’s best-known hits, including “China Grove” and “Jesus Is Just Alright.” When the band reunited in 1987 following a few years of inactivity, Hossack was there, and he stayed with the Doobies until he was forced to take a health leave in 2010.

An announcement on the band’s website reads: “Doobie Brothers drummer Michael Hossack passed away yesterday in Dubois, Wyoming, at the age of 65. His family was by his side. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones. We will miss him greatly.”
