The colored felts of ChromaTone seamless timpani mallets are molded to a solid core. The mating of the core to the lightweight bamboo handles moves the center of gravity forward, which is said to produce a round sonority with greater fundamental tone. The bamboo is hand-selected for consistency in density and straightness, with each handle measuring 14″ long with a .5″ diameter. Each model represents a different sound and weight as determined by felt thickness and cork, wood, and synthetic core options. A plug at the bottom of each handle is marked with the model number for identification. Every pair is weight- and color-matched and lists for $70.
