In this video from NAMM 2015, Meinl’s Norbert Saemann takes us on a tour of the new cymbals available from Meinl this year.

There are four new sizes in the Byzance Extra Dry series for the model called Byzance Dual, which features two finishes: an unpolished center and an extra-lathed and high-polished section towards the edge.

Two additions to the Byzance Jazz series are the Ralph Peterson signature rides: the 22″ Symmetry and the 21″ Nuance. Both feature larger bells, and the 21″ Nuance ride has six brass rivets placed close together at the edge.

Four new models have been added to the Byzance Jazz Tradition series, including a 22″ Tradition flat ride, 20″ Medium and Medium-Light rides, and 13″ hi-hats. All are made in Meinl’s Turkish factory and finished in its German factory. Each is hand-hammered, and no two are the same. Advertisement

In the Byzance Dark series, Meinl has added a 22″ Byzance Big Apple Dark Ride and 15″ Extra Dry Medium-Thin hi-hats.

Also new are the 16 HCS and 14 HCS Trash Stax. The bottom of the HCS Trash Stax is a China, and the top is a crash cymbal with long holes cut into it. The HCS an entry-level model made from brass, which works surprisingly well when used for stackers.

The NAMM Show 2015, a trade-only event for the music products industry, was held January 22-25  in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center.
