Remembering Neil Peart

Part 3: The Professor’s Improvised Warm-Up Routine When Neil Peart came up with a series of topics to cover for his course on DrumChannel.com, he said he wanted to include his warm-up routine. I expected it to be a series of rudiments or exercises, but it was actually a free-form solo. He said there were certain things he tried to always include while also using the time to experiment with what he might want to include in his solo during that night’s performance. It was fascinating to see that Neil, who was always so prepared with what he played, had a warm-up routine that was in essence an improvised solo.
